I’ve always been someone who likes to have a plan. I like to look at the horizon, see what’s coming, and make sure I’ve got my boots laced up ready for it. But as many of you know, life doesn't always check your calendar before throwing a curveball.
For a while now, I’ve known that my health might eventually force me to retire earlier than I’d planned. I’m a worker at heart—I even managed to keep going during my last round of dialysis—but I’m also a realist. I know that if (or when) that time comes again, I need a different way to channel my energy and keep my mind sharp.
The Spark of an Idea
That’s where this little craft business comes in. I wanted to build something that could grow with me—a "wee buffer" for the future.
The beauty of digital crafting is that it’s something I can do from anywhere. Even if I find myself hooked up to a machine again, I can still be creative. I can still design, I can still connect with all of you, and I can still build something of my own. It’s my way of making sure that no matter what my body is doing, my hands and my heart are still at work.
Looking Ahead
Don’t get me wrong—the plan is to keep going exactly as I am for as long as possible! Here is to hoping I have many, many more years left before dialysis calls me back.
But in the meantime, every order you place and every kind word you share helps me build this safety net. This shop isn't just a hobby; it’s my way of staying prepared, staying creative, and staying me.
